Fauzia Yeasmin was born in 1942 in Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Also known as Fauzia Khan, she was a vocal artiste of the then East Pakistan during the 1960s. Later she became a popular singer of Bangladesh during the '70s and '80s. Her father, Mr. Lutfar Rahman, belonged to former Provincial Civil Service of British India and her mother Begum Mouluda Khatun was also was a vocal artiste who took music lessons from musician Ustaad Kader Baksh. She was also a Professor of Bangla Literature, at T&T Collecge, Dhaka.
She is the second amongst five sisters. Her three other sisters Farida Yasmin (older), Nilufar Yasmin (younger), and Sabina Yasmin (youngest) are also renowned vocal artists in Bangladesh. The other sister is Dr. Nazma Yasmin (immediate younger), a scholar and academician.
She was married to renowned Musicologist Mr. Mobarak Hossain Khan, former Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (Academy of Performing Arts), former Chairman, Trustee Board, Kabi Nazrul Institute, and a Surbahar player. She is the mother of one daughter, Professor Reenat Fauzia, Professor, Home Economics College, Dhaka, and two sons, Dr. Tareef Hayat Khan, Professor of Architecture, and Sarodist, and Tanim Hayat Khan, Professor of Management, and Sarodist.
